Get a Free Server Check

Server tools.
Clearer answers.

Start with the facts behind your PHP site. These small checks help site owners, agencies and software teams narrow down a fault.

Use them on a server you manage, with shell access from your host. They read settings without changing them.

Three checks to start with

Save the result before you make a change. A clear starting point makes the next check more useful.

Check the PHP version

php -v

Read the version number, then compare it with your app’s supported versions. A newer release may need code changes first.

Find PHP upgrade guidance

Find the loaded settings

php --ini

This lists the settings files PHP loads. Check the file path before you edit: more than one file can set a value.

List PHP extensions

php -m

Extensions add features to PHP. Match this list against your app’s needs when an install fails or a feature stops working.

Want a ready set of shell commands? Use the server check script. Have selected phpinfo values? Review them privately with the phpinfo analyzer.

A shell check is one view

Your website can use a different PHP version and settings from the shell. A matching result matters more than a passing check.

phpinfo() shows PHP settings from the web request that runs it. Keep that page private and remove it when done.

Before you share a result

  • Keep the useful facts. Note the PHP version, error text and what changed before the fault.
  • Remove private details. Leave out passwords, keys, full file paths and private host names.
  • Check the web settings. Ask your host which PHP setup serves the affected site.

Turn the findings into a fix.

A command can show a setting. A server review connects it to the fault. phpinfoFile pairs clear reports with hands-on PHP fixes.

Tell us what failed and which checks you tried. Start with a brief summary, without sending a full private report.
